I edited the pilot, which was a half-hour show, in the fall of 2014. We thought we made a great show, but Showtime passed. The good news was it was shopped around to other networks and got a pick-up at The CW.
Kabir Akhtar is an Emmy winning Indian American television editor and director. He was born January 11, 1975 in Charlottesville, Virginia. His father is noted psychoanalyst and poet Salman Akhtar . Kabir has a sister named Nishat whom his parents had before they divorced. He attended the University of Miami and earned M.F.A. in Motion Picture Production. Akhtar later went on to the University of Pennsylvania and got a B.A. in Communications. He is a member of the American Cinema Editors and has worked on several television shows including "New Girl " and "Arrested Development ". He has also directed network specials such as segments on the Academy and Emmy ceremonies. Back in 1994, Akhtar created a website called the Tool Page which is fansite to the Grammy award winning rock band Tool . After editing the pilot for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" he became a supervising editor, associate producer, and second unit director during the show’s first season. On September 11, 2016, Akhtar won an Emmy for "Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Comedy Series " for his work on the show.
