|"Settle For Me" is a song Rebecca imagined being performed by Greg Serrano when he asked her out on a date. In it he attempts to make a case for them being together by suggesting she give up on Josh and go fir sometime be more attainable like him. The song was first heard in the Season One episode "I'm Going on a Date with Josh's Friend!". On July 14, 2016 the Emmy awards nominations were announced and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" was a contender in four categories including "Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics" for "Settle For Me". The choreography Kathryn Burns did for the dance sequence of this song and two others was also nominate for an Emmy which she won on September 11, 2016.
- This song was later reprised twice; once by Rebecca as "Settle For Me (reprise) and again by Heather Davis in the song "Don't Settle For Me".
- The melody of this song is heard again in the episode "That Text Was Not Meant for Josh!" when Greg comforts Rebecca.
- The melody is heard in the closing moment of the episode "Josh's Sister is Getting Married!" when Greg and Rebecca are at Home Base.
The song itself was done in the style of Cole Porter while the dance routine was inspired by classic Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire . Music producer Adam Schlesinger and his collaborator Steven M. Gold told Variety.com that the original melody for the sing which Rachel Bloom pitched was much slower but they decided to speed it up more and make it 'jauntier' which complimented the tap dance part of the performance a lot better.
